MATTRI (Wheat).

.

These are not biscuits; this is Mattri a North Indian tea time snack made purely with wheat so I guess u can call it healthy snack!!. All u need is wheat powder (godhampu podi), salt, and dalda or ghee. You can cut it into any shape; diamonds, squares, triangles etc. Here I have cut into squares. Mattri is a good snack for kids or to take for a long journey.

THIS IS HOW I MADE THEM:

Wheat powder: 2 cups.
Salt: 1 tsp.
Melted and cooled dalda enough to mix it (1/2-3/4 cup)
Few drops of water.

METHOD:
  1.  Mix wheat powder with salt.
  2. Pour melted dalda little by little into the powder and mix with your finger tips till it resembles bread crumbs.
  3. Add few drops of water or wet ur hands and make it into a dough.
  4. Divide it into small portions and roll out each one like you make chappati, but a little thicker (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick) and prick it with a fork.
  5. Cut into desired shapes with a pizza cutter (just roll the cutter on the flattened dough). Heat oil and when it is hot, simmer it and put in little mattri and let it fry in LOW HEAT. When it is done drain it and spread it into a tissue. Put in the remaining ones and fry till done.
  6. Store in air tight jar.
Note: Serve with chilly pickle.
