Dr Seuss Wall Art

I saw this quote while surfing Pinterest (I'm obsessed, I admit it) and it was just what I was looking for to hang in my daughter's bedroom. I was about to put it on canvas (I just love canvases) but then I had a thought to try something different...
I used six 2 1/2"x12" boards, and two 1"x12" boards to make the wall hanging. I had paint leftover from my hairbow holder, FolkArt acrylic paint in Tickled Pink. Total amount spent on this projects was about $6.
I alternated the boards and made them about 1/4" off to give it a little bit of an uneven look. My lipped sewing ruler worked perfect for this project!
Then I put the two smaller boards on each side of the ruler and centered on the larger boards. The "top" board was placed a little higher so that hanging it would be easier.
Leaving the ruler in place, I put some Amazing Goop glue all over the back of the board and pressed it down, making sure it was centered and then put some packages of copy paper on top until it was dry. Don't want the project to fall apart!
Once it was dry, I turned it over and got ready to paint!
I painted about 2 coats, letting it dry in between.
Once the paint was dry, I 'distressed' the edges by sanding all the way around, and in between each board. Then I covered the entire thing in Mod Podge.
I don't know about anyone else, but I get a mini panic attack before I use my Silhouette. Don't get me wrong, I *love* the machine - I just get so afraid of messing up & wasting vinyl! I end up making mistakes all the time, but I'm slowly learning...
Anyway... So I set up all the words on my own and then cut them out in white vinyl. I love how it turned out!!
It still needed a little something, so I got out some glitter glue and went around the words "you" & "youer" so they would stand out. Super easy!! And that's it!!
I really love it, it's so girly and hopefully the quote will always remind my little girl how special she is :)
