Speaking of letting the year get away from me, I finally finished my Fourth of July / Summer wreath for our front door last night. I saw an idea that I loved over at Pickup Some Creativity and ran with it. I already had an identical wreath form from the Dollar Tree so I picked up some material to make the bunting (I didn't have much in the way of red, white or blue scraps). I didn't pink the edges because simply by cutting the fabric on the bias, you keep it from unraveling. I cut out three different sizes of pennants and sandwiched them into some double fold bias tape. I added a little chalkboard hanging from red ribbon and covered my front door's wreath hanger with red ribbon for festive flair.
I hope whatever your plans for the fourth of July are, you take some time to stop and remember the sacrifices others have made to give us this incredible nation we live in. I am both proud and thankful to be an American!
I've been watching a great History Channel show called America, The Story of Us on Netflix instant streaming this last week and have been enjoying both the well done cinematography as well as learning about the history of our great nation and the individuals that shaped it's destiny. If you're looking for a good way to help keep your kids learning things this summer, I'd definitely recommend it. (BTW, if you don't already subscribe to Netflix, you can get a 1 month free trial as long as nobody else in your household has been a Netflix customer in the last 12 months).
I'm sharing with these great parties:
