Bitter Melon podi/ Pavakka podi





         
     The bitterness of Bitter melon might turn some people away, it can really sweeten your health because of its disease preventing and health promoting phyto chemical compounds.The pods are rich in phytonutrients like dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants. Fresh bitter melon is an excellent source of vitamin-C .The vegetable is also good source of Niacin (vitamin B-3) Pantothenic acid (vit.B-5), Pyridoxine (vit.B-6) and minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium, manganese and magnesium.We prepare  a podi without its bitterness.





Ingredients

Bitter Melon - 1.
Roasted channa dal- 1 tbsp.
Red chilli  -1.
coconut - 2 tbsp [grated].
oil - to fry.

Preparation

   Chop bitter Melon into very thin pieces (so that we can saute quickly)

Method
  • Heat an oil add  finely chopped bitter Melon and saute it well, till the raw smell goes.{It should be sauted finely}.
  • Grind Roasted channa dal, Red chilli and salt to gether in a blender to a fine powder.
  • Add the powder to sauted bitter Melon  saute well then add  grated coconut saute it well. Then serve.
  • It goes well with rice.
