This upma gives you a different taste of Idli upma varieties.We all would have prepared idli upma with normal idli batter.Here the battter is prepared with only boiled rice.Not necessary to ferment.As soon as you prepare the batter you can start preparing the dish.
Ingredients
Boiled rice - 1+1/2 cup.
Toor Dal - 3 tbsp. [ To be pressure cooked].
curd chillies or red chillies - 4.
turmeric - 2 pinch.
salt - needed.
Seasoning
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp.
channa dal - 11/2 tsp.
curry leaves - 15.
oil - to fry.
Preparation
Soak the boiled rice for 4 to 5 hrs or overnight.
Method
- Grind the boiled rice and salt to gether. [ batter should be fine and consistency should be like idli batter.]{fermentation not necessary).
- Prepare idli's using the batter.{pour the batter in idli mould and prepare idli like normal idli.
- Cut the idli's into square slabs as shown in the figure {using knife or cutter} keep it aside.
- Now heat the oil add mustard seeds, when it gets trackle add channa dal ,when it turns golden brown add curry leaves,curd chillies or red chillies saute it well then add boiled toor dal.
- Add 2 tbsp of water to the boiling mixture{so that it finely mixes with chopped idli's.}.
- Then add salt.
- Add the chopped idli's into mixture content and stir well.
