Chocolate Pudding From Scratch
Pudding may seem like a simple treat, especially if you are used to the boxed kind (which I admittedly love!). When made from scratch, though, it brings out this decadence that makes it a sensual, aphrodisiac-inducing dessert. Perfect for the end of a romantic meal and the start (or end) of a romantic evening. It is made ahead which means there's no rush or dessert preparation, simply enjoy it whenever you are ready for that decadent mouthful of pure dark chocolate bliss. Wow, I think I'm blushing. Is it hot in here? Enjoy this recipe before I write a romance novel!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
4 tsp cornstarch
2 cups heavy whipping cream
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once completely melted, add in the cornstarch and whisk until cornstarch is well combined.
2. Whisk in the heavy whipping cream, and sugar. Stir continually while slowly increasing the heat to medium-high.
3. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted. Pour into serving glasses.
4. Let cool in the refrigerator until and serve when completely cooled through and set, at least an hour.
When it comes to heating milk, gentle and slow is the way to go. If milk gets too much heat, or heats to quickly it can scorch. Yes, you can burn milk and it is pretty gross. Stirring constantly helps prevent scorching because it keeps the liquid flowing so that none of it should be touching the sides of the pan long enough for scorching to occur.
