Until Kettle Chips. Not only are Kettle Chips the first all-natural potato chip to be certified GMO free by the NonGMO Project (love them!) but they are darn tasty. They come in a variety of flavors and even include baked options with only 120 calories per serving. Meaning: I can indulge in a salty snack and not sabotage my weight loss plan. Yes!
So why does this GMO thing even matter? In short, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are plants and animals created in a lab to do things that their natural forms were never designed to do - like create their own pesticides in every cell of the plant so you can't wash it off. Or withstand being dumped with large quantities of herbicides like Round Up - which of course not only gets on the plants but gets into the ground water as well. In sum: GMOs are bad news. (get more information GMOs from the NonGMO project)
While other companies are starting to copy the Kettle Brand style of chip cooking - these chips are the real deal. Real food. Real awesome. (they didn't tell me to say that - I'm saying it because it's true!)
In addition to being straight up awesome out of the bag in in combo with a great dip, Kettle Brand Chips make the perfect side for any sandwich or tuna melt - which is one of my husband's favorite "got no time or energy" weeknight meals.
Ingredients
- 2 pouches or cans of tuna packed in water
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise (we use homemade from this recipe)
- 1 small bunch curly leaf parsley, snipped*
- 2 stalks celery, diced*
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- 2 sourdough english muffins
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar*
YIELD: 4 tuna melts
Directions
- Split english muffins and toast on a medium-low setting.
- While muffins are toasting, drain tuna and combine in a small bowl with mayonnaise, parsley, celery and mustard.
- Place toasted english muffin halves on a broiler-safe baking pan and top with 1/4 of the tuna mixture.
- Finish the melts by topping with 1/4 of the shredded cheese and cooking under the broiler for about 3 minutes or until cheese on top is melted.
- Serve warm with Kettle Brand Chips (pictured with Kettle Brand Bakes potato chips in Sea Salt flavor)
