Katte Pongali |
Ingredients
Raw rice - 1 cup.
Moongdal - 1/2 cup.
Water - 4 + 1/2 cup.
Salt - as required
For Tempering
Ghee - 3 tbsp.
Cumin Seeds - 2 tsp.
Pepper Corns - 1 + 1/2 tsp.
Pepper Corns - 1 + 1/2 tsp.
ginger - 1 Inch (chopped)
curry leaves - few
Cashews - 10.

Method
- Wash the rice & Moongdal together ,then add water, & salt, then pressure cook it for 5 whistles.
- Heat the Ghee in a kadai,add cashews when it turns slightly golden brown colour, add cumin,pepper corns,curry leaves,ginger saute for few seconds till you get nice aroma.
- Then add this tempering to Cooked Pongal.
- Stir well and Serve hot.
- It goes very well with Sesame Pachadi, Sambar, & coconut chutney.
