parrupu sadam/pappanam

                                 

   Toor dal is rich in nutritional values bearing rich vitamin contents, amino acids, methionine, lysine and tryptophan. It gives easy digestion.In combination with cereals, toor dal make a well-balanced human food. A dish made of Rice with toor dal is a traditional dish in southern parts of India.Here we make a delicious parrupu sadam.



  Ingredients
  Rice - 1 cup.
  Toor dal - 1/4 cup.
  spring onion - 20.
  Tomato - 2.
  garlic - 4.
  Curry leaves - 10.
  Water - 41/2 cups.
   red chillies -4.

For Tempering
  
   oil - to fry ( 1tbsp). 
   mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
   cumin seeds -1/2 tsp.            
                    
Preparation
  •  Smash   onions and garlic together.
  • Soak toor dal and rice together in 41/2 cup water for 15 minutes.

Method
  •  Heat the oil , add tempering items let it crackle,then add spring onions , garlic ,then tomatoes, red chillies  saute it,  till it becomes golden brown.
  • Add sauted items to soaked rice and  toor dal.stir well.
  • Then transfer the content in pressure cooker and pressure cook it like you cook normal rice.
