It is one of the famous Vysyas recipe.It is very delicious to eat.It is sold in every corner shop's of coimbatore and salem. This upma improves the business of the shops.
Ingredients| tamarind upma/pulusu pindi |
Raw Rice- 1 cup.
Red Chillies - 4.
tamarind - small lemon size ball.
jaggery - 3 tsp.
coconut - 1/4 cup.
salt - for taste.
oil - to fry.(1/2 tbsp)
Tempering.
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp.
channa dal - 1 tsp.
Preparation
Soak Raw Rice and channa dal seperately for 5 hrs or overnight.
Method
- To the Soaked Rice add redchillies,tamarind,jaggery,coconut,salt and grind the content to prepare the batter.(Batter should be like sooji. The consistency should be moderate,Not too thinner or thicker).
- Heat the oil add mustard seeds when it crackle add channa Dal when it turns golden brown add the batter.(flame should be moderate).
- stir for every few min till the batter is cooked well.(batter should be cooked until upma is not sticky to mouth.)
- Finally when it is not sticky to mouth, you can serve it.
- you get very delicious upma.
