Homemade copycat starbucks frappuccino, my version.....pure goodness of milk, coffee, and cream....perfect summer chill.
I know, I should have posted this long before...because I make frappuccino so often, it just din't cross my mind that I did not share it with you....and so yesterday, while I was making for my kids, Nidhi reminded me that I still haven't posted this...and thus, I took this picture on the spur of the moment.....unfortunately I forgot to take step by step pictures.....and when I mentioned that, you should have seen the "naughty grin" on my children's face....so again, I made for them today and took the step by step pictures for you....and both my kids were like wow! we are so lucky to have a food blogger mom :)
Back to this recipe, I had starbucks frappuccino sometime back and since then, I have been making my version of this amazing coffee cooler....its no secret that I am a die-hard coffee lover, and so are my hubby and kids....well that make us a coffee loving family. Okay back to the recipe again, cool whip/whole cream is something which is very difficult to get in this part of the world....so I make with ice cream on top drizzled with chocolate syrup....lots and lots of syrup...but if you can get cool whip in your part of the world...then top it with it....or maybe even sweetened whipped cream...I love to cook and substitute with whatever is available in the
The Starbucks frapps have sweetened whipped cream on top with chocolate syrup/caramel syrup and chocolate chips, but I have made my variation without compromising the taste and not creating a hole in your pocket (its costs somewhere around 125 INR). I used frozen pasteurized milk, instant coffee powder, ice cream, and chocolate syrup.
So lets get frappy and save money too :)

Serves: 3.
Tip: If you are a coffee person, I am sure you will have some left over black coffee, do not pour it down the drain, just fill them in an ice cube tray and freeze and then pop them in when you are making frapps or cold coffee...
Ingredients:
Pasteurized milk: 1/2 litre pack, frozen, I keep one or two packets in the freezer, just in case :)
Sugar: 1/4 cup, or decrease 1 tbsp depending on your taste.
Instant coffee powder: 2 tsp.
Vanilla ice cream: 1 big scoop or whipped cream or cool whip.
Chocolate syrup: 2 tbsp or as much as your kids like.
Chocolate chips: 1 tsp to sprinkle over (optional).
Caramel sauce: 1 tsp to drizzle over (optional).
Method:
Lightly soften the frozen pasteurized milk with a meat tenderizer or rolling pin.
Cut open the packet and empty it into a blender.
Add two tsp of instant coffee powder (like starbucks, nescafe, or bru).
Add in 1/4 cup of sugar.
Blend for a minute. If you would love more coffee flavor you can increase half a tsp, but make sure to adjust the sugar.
Pour into a tall glass, top with a generous scoop of ice cream and drizzle chocolate syrup over it.
