Seafood App: Seafood Watch #Healthy Eating #Weekly Menu Plan

seafood watch app

I have used Seafood Watch's website as a guide for sustainable fish buying for years. I used to always carry around a little print out from them that tells which fish are OK to buy, and which are over fished.

Now you can have an app on your iPhone or Android that can tell you which fish are best to buy and a lot more. The app has a restaurant guide and a sushi guide that lists fish by both their Japanese and English names.

Fish is a important source of omega - 3 and iodine in your diet. It is also a low bad fat source of protein which is lower in calories than meat and dairy.

Unfortunately, the fishing industry has been short sighted and has been more concerned about supplying present day demand for seafood then taking care of the fish population for long term sustainability. This is why you the consumer has to take the responsibility to not buy over fished seafood. This app allows you to make responsible choices.
