"WELCOME TO THE WORLD" BABY SHOWER!

Welcome to the World baby shower @ Butter with a Side of Bread

I helped prep a fun little baby shower for a co-worker of mine. She's expecting a boy, and thanks to other blogs & Pinterest inspiration, we decided on a "welcome to the world" theme! (Plus, who doesn't love travel?! We all know I'm partial:)

First, I ordered supplies through Garnish. They have some great products! (Note: this is not a sponsored post! I paid for all the supplies myself.) The thing I love is that you can order supplies individually, rather than in sets of 50, 100, or more. I ordered paper straws, chipboard trays, and wooden forks.

Now, the food! The best part, right? I made fruit kabobs, veggie sandwiches (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, avocado, cheese, and a bit of ranch), and added salt & pepper kettle chips to the trays. Little waters with custom labels and straws were our drinks. Marshmallow pops were a little take-away. The pops were super easy! I used melting chocolate (or good chocolate chips, Guittard brand is my favorite), and dipped the marshmallows using a double boiler. After dipping, I rolled in either crushed graham crackers or graham crackers + blue sprinkles. We also served milk & cookies as a little sweet treat!

On a non-shower-but-still-baby-boy-related-note... I'm still pregnant. This is good! Good, yes, but heavens, pregnancy lasts a while! Poor elephants- almost 2 years of this? I'm not sure how they do it. People should appreciate elephants more. (Note to self: appreciate elephants more.)
I'm about 30 weeks, and after looking at photos of myself with baby #1... I decided that was a mistake. I'm at least a month larger now that I was then! (Note to self: stop looking at photos of life pre-pregnancy. It doesn't help.) Thankfully, the morning sickness subsided and I can eat and drink most foods again- whew! Not-as-thankfully, the little man in me has settled on my sciatic nerve, and I traded wanting to puke constantly for an inability to move. (Note to self: appreciate being able to sit/stand/walk without making odd noises and randomly collapsing.) I am so thankful for such a fun time of year- although Christmas is past and winter is in full swing, 2013 will bring some good things- I can just feel it! :)
