Dosa Upma /Pappu Rotta

     Dosa upma or pappu Rotta is one of the awesome recipes of Vysyas.It tastes so good than any other upma recipes.Every one likes this recipe.In coimbatore many hotels sells this recipe and make a great business.you can prepare it with left over coconut dosa(refer coconut dosa recipe) , that i posted already. Morning we prepare coconut  dosa. At evening we prepare dosa upma.I have specified 2 types of dosa upma.





Ingredients
Coconut Dosa  chopped - 1 cup ( cut into square  slabs).[refer my site for coconut dosa]
  toor dal  - 2 tablespoon.
  turmeric - 1/2 tsp.
  curd chillies  or green chillies - 3.
  salt - required.

Tempering
  oil -  To fry
  Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
  channa dal - 2  tsp.
urad dal - 1/2 tsp.
  curry leaves  - 10 leaves.

 Preparation
  • you can  prepare it with  coconut dosa(refer coconut dosa recipe) , that i posted already.
  • pressure cook  toor dal with 1/4 tsp of turmeric.
  •  chop dosa's into small  square slabs .[ by using cutter or knife you can chop 10 dosa's within 5 to 10 min.] keep the chopped Dosa's aside.
 Method
  • Add oil in a pan then add  tempering ingredients such as mustard seeds,when it splutters add  channa dal, urad dal,green chillies, curry leaves saute well.
  • when dal's turn golden brown add  boiled Toor dal and add 1/4 cup of water,[ so the mixture becomes  thinner, so it get easily mixed with chopped dosa.]
  • when it starts boiling, add a cup of chopped dosa , and salt, then  mix it well.now dosa upma or pappu rotta is ready.
  • serve the prepared dish with  salad as side dish.(carrot , cabbage chopped with 2 tsp of lime and salt) or you can eat as such.


Instant Tamarind Dosa upma
  
Add tempering items in a kadai, saute well then add instant tamarind rice paste, add 1/4 cup of water, stir well,when it starts boiling add chopped dosa and little salt.mix well.(tamarind paste may hav salt so add little salt according to taste)

Ingredients

prepare tamarind extract (from goosebery size amla)
coconut grated - 3 tbsp.
idli podi - 2 tsp or chilli powder

Tempering
 oil -  To fry
 Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
 channa dal - 2  tsp.
 urad dal - 1/2 tsp.
 curry leaves  - 10 leaves.


Dosa upma
 

Heat the oil in a kadai, add sauted ingredients, when dal turns golden brown add tamarind extract with 1/4 cup of water , add idli podi , then add grated coconut, when water  starts boiling add dosa upma and salt, then mix well.now tamarind dosa upma is ready.
