My Favorite Christmas Menu

Christmas day is a day for homemade food. Families get together, travel from far and near to be together and most Keralites love to spend the day with their loved ones. I am listing out my favorite Christmas day menu for you....

The menu I am listing here is a typical Kerala Menu, and mostly non-vegetarian but very traditional menu. While growing up Christmas day was filled with fun and laughter, since schools have a 10 day break, we cousins always come together and enjoyed the holidays, not to mention the Christmas Carols from the church....in Kerala, a group from the church will go door-to-door singing carols and we also used to have a Santa along with us....oh! those were good old days!!.

Breakfast:
Appam and Chicken Stew: One of my favorite combination.

Kerala Puttu and Meen Mappas.: A combination that I grew up on.

Bread and Fish Molly: One of the quickest breakfast and very traditional.

Appetizers:
Beef Cutlets: Typical homemade Kerala style Cutlets from scratch!!
Beef Samosa: So very homemade and from scratch!!
Beef Ularthiyathu: Slow roasted beef with bits of coconut pieces, a very traditional recipe.
Fish fry: Your everyday fish fry of Kerala.
Fish Fingers: Restaurant style fish fingers can be made ahead too....a sure hit with kids.
Chicken tikka I usually serve it as an appetizer.
Nadan Chicken Roast: Again a very traditional slow roasted chicken.
Chicken Strips: This crunch chicken snack is popular among kids, so make sure you make a batch of this and freeze it for the big day...
Popcorn Fish: Crunchy fish popcorn can be made ahead too.

Drinks:
Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur: Homemade Irish cream liqueur is a life savor for me, so easy to make!!
Pineapple Wine: Wine with pineapple peel is my favorite!
Pineapple Squash: Can be made ahead and refrigerated, kids will love it.

Lunch:
Shrimp Biriyani: My first choice for a special lunch as it is so easy to make and tastes yum!
Coconut Rice and Nadan Chicken Curry : One of the best combination, coconut flavored rice with traditional and spicy chicken curry.
Fried Rice and Butter Chicken: Most popular restaurant style combination.

Dinner:
Quick Bhatura and Channa Masala
Tandoori Roti and Restaurant style Butter Chicken.
